"My brick kiln fired this morning." (Robert Carter Diary, 1726) It is time to fire the brick kiln at Colonial Williamsburg. The brick gang, as they were called in the 18th century, has spent the summer hand-moulding 15,000 bricks. Now, as the cooler weather approaches, it is time to build the kiln and fire the bricks. The brick burn will begin on Sept. 8 and last for five days. The Brickyard will be open to guests from 9 a.m. - 10 p.m., September 8-12. Come see the fires rage as the bricks reach temperatures over 2,000 degrees farenheight.
